Waterfront Kayak Adventure

Approximately 90 minutes, with around 60 minutes of paddling on the water.

The remaining time includes check-in, safety briefing, equipment fitting, and launching.

Your guided sea kayaking adventure departs from Granger Bay, just outside the V&A Waterfront. Rather than following a fixed route, each trip is planned according to the day's weather, wind, and sea conditions, ensuring the safest and most enjoyable experience.

As you paddle along the Atlantic coastline, you'll enjoy spectacular views of Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Lion's Head, Green Point, and the vibrant V&A Waterfront. Keep your eyes peeled for Cape Fur Seals, dolphins, penguins, sunfish, and, during whale season, even Southern Right and Humpback whales.

Sea kayaking tours operate daily throughout the year, weather permitting.

There are usually two departures per day, with departure times confirmed at the time of booking.

Guests are requested to arrive at least 20 minutes before departure to complete check-in and the mandatory safety briefing.

This experience is weather dependent and guest safety is always the highest priority.

Tours operate in most weather conditions but may be cancelled or postponed if strong winds, rough seas, large swells, or dangerous currents make it unsafe to paddle. Should the operator cancel due to weather, guests will receive a full refund or have the option to reschedule, subject to availability.

We recommend wearing comfortable beachwear or quick-drying clothing, such as shorts, leggings, t-shirts, or activewear.

For your comfort, we also suggest bringing:

• Towel and a change of clothes
• Water bottle
• Sunglasses with a retaining strap (optional)

Barefoot is recommended, although sandals, water shoes, or old trainers are also suitable.

• Suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers alike.
• Minimum age is 8 years.
• Children under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
• Maximum passenger weight is 110kg.
• Maximum 2 guests per kayak.
• Solo travellers are welcome and may paddle in a single kayak or be paired with a guide where available.
• Water temperatures generally range between 10°C and 16°C.
• All guests are required to sign a mandatory electronic indemnity form before departure.
• If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking medication before your trip.

Meet at the V&A Waterfront

Your adventure begins at the Waterfront Kayak offices (Shop 8, Quay 5, V&A Waterfront), conveniently located opposite the Jolly Roger Pirate Boat and Tigresse Catamaran.

Check-in

Please arrive 20 minutes before departure. During check-in, you'll complete your electronic indemnity form before being fitted with your life jacket.

Safety Briefing

Your qualified kayaking guide will provide a comprehensive safety briefing, explain paddling techniques, and answer any questions before heading to the launch site.

Launch from Granger Bay

A short walk takes you to the launch area at Granger Bay, where your sea kayaking adventure begins.

Explore Table Bay

Spend approximately 60 minutes paddling along Cape Town's beautiful Atlantic coastline. Enjoy breathtaking views of Table Mountain while keeping watch for dolphins, Cape Fur Seals, penguins, sunfish, and seasonal whales. Your guide will make regular stops for photographs, wildlife spotting, and to share interesting local insights.

Return to Shore

After an unforgettable morning on the water, return to Granger Bay and make your way back to the V&A Waterfront to continue exploring everything Cape Town has to offer.
